Description
This Glencadam was bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, a 6 year old, at 47.5%, one of 454 bottles. Glencadam is a Highland single malt, revived under Angus Dundee ownership in 2003. Most of its make long went to blends; bottled single malt Glencadam was rare until a full range arrived. Its water comes from Loch Lee in the Cairngorms, piped down through the River Esk catchment. Its single malts are bottled at 46 percent, without chill filtration or added colour. It was founded in 1825 by the merchant George Cooper, soon after the Excise Act made licensed distilling viable.
Distilled from unpeated malt, building a soft malt of orchard fruit and a creamy sweetness. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending a creamy vanilla. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin and toasted sugars over the clean, fruity spirit. First fill wood drives the maturation, the cask clear in the light spirit.
At 47.5%, undiluted, it is rich and fruity. A clean, fruity sweetness with a floral lift, lifted by a soft oak. Soft pear and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. The finish is light, fruity and clean. This is a fruity, easy going Highland single malt.
