Famille Ricci OVNI 7

OVNI 7 is another release in Famille Ricci's blended series, an unsweetened cask strength vatting of rums from several distilleries aged in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at 50.2% at roughly twenty-one to twenty-two years. Where some blends sit awkwardly, this one earns praise for how smoothly its components come together.

The nose leads with cherry, barrel and gooseberry, while the palate brings barrel, cherry, caramelised notes and tropical fruit ahead of a sweet, prune-tinged finish. Drinkers describe a lovely buttery cherry note with subtle wood and spice, calling it round, balanced and very easy to drink thanks to the moderated strength, with one likening it to a Navy style. Fruit, wood and light roasted aromas meet without either side dominating. As a mature, harmonious and unsweetened blend it makes a genuinely satisfying neat sipper, generous in fruit and gentle in its oak.
