Description
Excellia Reposado is a 100 percent Blue Weber tequila conceived as a meeting of Mexican agave and French wine. It was created in collaboration with Carlos Camarena, the master distiller of La Alteña behind Tapatio, alongside distiller Sebastien Robicquet and oenologist Bruno de Reilhac, the team also behind G'Vine gin. The aim was a harmony of fruity agave and fine wine, and the cask choice is where that idea lives.
Nine months of rest in Grand Cru Sauternes wine casks and Cognac casks shape the spirit. The straw-gold colour leads to a complex nose of honey, toasted wood, mushroom, dried lavender, jasmine and violet. The palate is round and expansive, rich with honey, cigar box and caramelised agave and pumpkin notes, threaded with subtle rancio and orchard fruit. The finish runs long with spice and an earthy turn, the agave framed rather than buried by the wood.
