Elizabeth Yard Diamond (Port Mourant) Diamond Distillery 2011

This Elizabeth Yard single cask carries the Port Mourant character, distilled on the double wooden pot still that DDL keeps running at the Diamond site, the greenheart still no modern equipment can copy. A 2011 vintage aged ten years and finished in port, it is bottled undiluted at 49.8%.

Port Mourant in the house style is the heaviest and most singular of the Demerara profiles, leaning on oily anise and liquorice, prune and plum, pencil shavings and a savoury thread of tar, and a port finish would be expected to amplify the dark fruit. Bottled at full strength from a single cask, this is the raw, polarising pot-still signature rather than a soft, rounded pour.
