Description
Elephant Gin Coffee Liqueur is a coffee liqueur made by Elephant Gin in Germany, bottled at 25% in a 20cl format. Unusually it is built on the house aged gin, refined with fine coffee distillates and cold brewed coffee from carefully selected Arabica beans, so the base carries a botanical thread beneath the roast. The Arabica beans lend a layered flavour of brown sugar, nougat and cranberry, the marriage of gin and coffee being its distinctive idea on a back bar.
The nose is freshly brewed coffee, nougat and the subtle sweetness of brown sugar, the palate full bodied and balanced with an intense coffee note, a subtle sweetness and finely integrated spice, finishing medium long, soft and aromatic with a lingering coffee flavour. Behind the bar it adds coffee body, roast and a measured sweetness, which suits it to an Espresso Martini, a Black Russian or a dessert serve alongside chocolate tart, brownies or tiramisu. It pairs well with vanilla or hazelnut ice cream, pours cleanly over ice, and brings a roasted depth to coffee led modern drinks.
