Description
From the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 10 year old Edradour, distilled in 2005, from cask 50, bottled at 46%. Edradour is a Highland single malt from Perthshire, traditional and tiny, now Scotland's little gem. It was founded in 1825, growing out of an old farmers' cooperative in the glen above Pitlochry.
It was distilled slowly in the old farm stillhouse on Ben Vrackie water, for the rich, oily make Edradour is known for. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the oily spirit over the years. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, oily spirit growing creamier. Signatory's wide cask range gives the small distillery an unusual variety of finishes. Active wood frames the rich fruit without overwhelming the oily Highland spirit. A gentle maturation suits the oily make, the nutty richness growing with time.
At 46% it is creamy and full. A rich, oily orchard fruit and almond, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run dried fruit, chocolate and a soft oil. A rich finish ends on dried fruit and a soft oak. This is a rich Highland malt from the pocket glen at Pitlochry.
