A ten year old single cask Guatemalan from Scottish bottler Dràm Mòr, drawn from a 2012 vintage, aged in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at cask strength of 57.3%.
Description
Dràm Mòr is a Scottish independent bottler, and this single cask Guatemalan comes from a 2012 distillation aged ten years in ex-bourbon oak. It is bottled unsweetened at a full 57.3%, a marked contrast to the soft, often sugared Guatemalans on the supermarket shelf.
Guatemalan ron is built in the Spanish style from molasses on a column still, naturally mellow and leaning on the cask. Stripped of dosage and presented at cask strength, the house character of butterscotch, vanilla, raisin and baking spice typically arrives drier and more intense, with the bourbon oak given full voice. A little water helps open it. This is a Guatemalan recast in the purist independent mould.
