A single cask Caroni from the legendary closed Trinidad distillery, a Heavy 1997 vintage bottled by Dornoch, aged 18 years in ex-bourbon oak and presented at 46%.
Description
Caroni is the legendary Trinidad distillery that closed in 2003, its forgotten casks later championed by Velier and now among the most mythologised in rum. This single cask is an 18 Year Old Heavy Caroni, vintage 1997, bottled by Dornoch in Scotland from a marque collectors prize. Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 46%, it comes from Caroni's heavy side. The house signature for these heavy marques is an industrial intensity, typically tar, diesel, burnt rubber and machine oil over dark tropical fruit, smoke, brine and deep oak. Expect that savoury, petrol-and-fruit Caroni character, oily and dense, a purist's style from a finite, collectible source.
