Description
A Dalmunach of an 8 year old chosen by the bottler Battlehill Scotch Whisky Co, bottled at 46%. Dalmunach is a young Speyside single malt, fresh and fruity, rarely bottled on its own. The name comes from the Dalmunach pool, a stretch of the Spey beside the distillery.
Run through the distillery's tulip and onion shaped stills, giving the clean, fresh Speyside spirit. First fill bourbon gave a fuller vanilla over the clean spirit. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) into the fresh make, the spirit still vibrant. The clean spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Water comes from the Balintomb Burn, near the River Spey at Carron. Most Dalmunach is laid down for blending, a little finding its way into single cask bottlings. It is one of the largest and most efficient malt distilleries in Scotland, with a heat recovery system.
At 46% it is clean and soft. A light, clean fruitiness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a fresh honey sit behind the cask. Apple, honey and a soft oak see out the finish. This is Dalmunach, a new Speyside name on the Spey.
