Description
From the Huntly bottler Duncan Taylor, a 5 year old Dalmunach, distilled in 2016, from cask 10831608, 10831618, bottled at 54.9%, one of 151 bottles. Dalmunach is a clean, fresh, fruity Speyside single malt from one of Scotland's newest large distilleries. Single malt Dalmunach is scarce, the spirit being a blend component first and foremost.
Distilled for the light, fruity Speyside spirit Dalmunach is known for, building the clean Dalmunach style. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) into the fresh make, the spirit still vibrant. Refill oak lets the fresh Dalmunach character lead, apple and citrus beneath. It is a young distillery, so most bottlings are independent single casks of modest age. The clean, fruity make is a model of the modern Speyside style.
Bottled at a cask strength 54.9%, it is rich. Apple, lemon and a clean malt, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Soft orchard fruit and a fresh honey sit behind the cask. The close is clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a young, fresh Speyside single malt.
