A fifteen year cask strength Foursquare single cask from The Colours of Rum, balancing coconut, caramel and roasted oak with black pepper and dark chocolate, a confident, well-poised Barbados at 61.5%.
Description
CoR Foursquare No. 15 is a 2006 vintage bottled by Poland's The Colours of Rum, a single cask aged fifteen years. Foursquare is the benchmark Barbados producer under Richard Seale, double-retort pot married to twin-column Coffey with a firm no-additives stance. The Colours of Rum is a young but highly regarded purist house releasing cask strength, additive-free single casks, and this bottling lands as a confident, classic Foursquare.
Distilled from molasses on pot and column stills and matured in ex-bourbon oak without added sugar, it shows the house style with poise. The aroma carries coconut, black pepper, caramel and a roasted note, the palate brings coconut, oak, milk chocolate and pepper, and the finish stays roasted and oaky with dark chocolate and vanilla. The balance between flavour and proof is the headline here, the 61.5% folded neatly into the body. Banana and mango surface with air over a well-judged oak frame, a stable and rewarding Barbados sipper that confirms the distillery's standing rather than reinventing it.
