A gentle 45.8 percent take on old Enmore, this 29 year single cask offers dark tea, dried prune and tobacco over leather and heavy oak, structured and bitter in a soft, winter sipper style rather than fierce.
Description
The Colours of Rum, the Warsaw bottler known for purist single casks with no additives, released this 29 year Enmore at a soft 45.8 percent, naturally presented in the transparent style the house keeps to. Carrying the REV marque, an Enmore estate code, it is here best read through its reliable character of dry, woody, tea driven Demerara rather than an over asserted lettering.
Matured in ex bourbon, the molasses spirit shows wood, tobacco, prune and herbal notes on the nose, then a palate of prune, a salty edge, wood and spice, closing bitter with coffee and vanilla. The lower strength gives a softer, more oak driven reading of old Enmore, the structure and bitterness intact but the delivery gentle. This is a relaxed winter sipper for drinkers who enjoy dark, dry Demerara and want the prune, tea and tobacco core of the style in an easy going, lower proof package.
