CDI T.D.L 2005

Compagnie des Indes, the terroir-led French bottler led by Florent Beuchet, selected this TDL from the 2005 vintage, a 13 year single cask bottled naturally and unsweetened. TDL is Trinidad Distillers Limited within the Angostura group, whose light, column-distilled molasses rum is the smooth, fragrant backbone of living Trinidad.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it leads with bright tropical fruit, red fruits, mango and citrus, lifted by mint and a faint medicinal, petrol-like edge that gives it interest, then caramel and light wood, with a minty, spicy, green-apple finish. At 45% it stays gentle and aromatic, an easy, fruit-forward pour rather than a high-strength statement, though some find the palate a touch timid against the lively nose. A clean, characterful introduction to unsweetened Trinidad rum for relaxed, curious sipping.
