A 15 year single cask TDL from Compagnie des Indes at an easy 44%, fresh with minty tropical fruit, peach and pear over light wood, caramel and a peppery, faintly smoky finish, certified unsweetened.
Description
Compagnie des Indes is the French, terroir-led bottler run by Florent Beuchet, known for natural single casks across a broad range of origins, and this is a TDL drawn from the 2003 vintage in Trinidad. TDL is Trinidad Distillers Limited, the living producer within the Angostura group, whose column-distilled molasses rum is light, smooth and fragrant in the Spanish-heritage idiom.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at 44%, this single cask leads with bright fruit, peach, pear and melon over vanilla and a cooling mint, then settles into light wood, caramel and a peppery, faintly smoky finish with a green-apple lift. It is a gentle, fruit-driven expression rather than a powerhouse, lacking the impact of cask strength but easy and aromatic for relaxed sipping. A clean, accessible TDL for anyone exploring living Trinidad rum at a calm pace.
