A single cask from the Port Mourant still, bottled for Denmark by Compagnie des Indes from a 2008 vintage aged just over nine years, finished in port and presented unsweetened at cask strength 58.7%.
Description
Compagnie des Indes, the terroir-led French bottler, selected this single cask carrying the Port Mourant character from Demerara Distillers, a 2008 vintage aged a little over nine years, finished in port and bottled for Denmark. It is confirmed unsweetened and presented at cask strength, 58.7%.
Port Mourant comes off the double wooden pot still and runs heavy in the house style, leaning on oily anise and liquorice, dark dried fruit, pencil shavings and a savoury thread of tar, with a port finish expected to deepen the prune and plum. Compagnie des Indes bottles its single casks naturally, so this is the raw still character at full strength, dry and undiluted, a focused expression of the most distinctive Demerara still.
