The Boulet de Canon line from Compagnie des Indes is its high-octane, attention-grabbing series, and the number ten release takes the concept to an extreme with a peated whisky cask finish over an ex-bourbon base, bottled at 46%. The rum itself is almost beside the point next to what the cask does to it.

This is unabashedly a smoke-driven spirit. The nose hits with bacon, campfire and smoked ham, the palate doubles down on bacon, smoke, whisky and a meaty, umami weight, and the finish carries all of it long. Drinkers describe it as intense, strange and unforgettable, closer to a heavily peated Islay malt than a classic molasses rum.
