Cane Island's Single Island Blend gathers Jamaican distillate from several estates, Worthy Park, Monymusk, Hampden and New Yarmouth among them, into a five-year, molasses-based blend aged in ex-bourbon and bottled unsweetened at 40%. Drawing on both pot and column stills, it keeps the esters deliberately soft.
The nose is tropical and gently grassy, with papaya, sugarcane and ripe fruit, while the palate turns to praline, coconut and honey before a nutty, buttery, lightly peppery finish. There is more island hogo here than in the most mainstream blends, with Worthy Park's clean fruit showing through, yet it never tips into overproof aggression. The result is an approachable step up in character for drinkers moving past the smoothest entry rums, equally at home as a budget mixer or an easy first Jamaican.
