Description
Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 2008 (Cadenhead's) is a blended malt Scotch from Cadenhead's. It marries single malts, with Campbeltown malt among the components. Campbeltown has a long blending heritage in the old whisky capital of Scotland.
The malts are vatted to a house style, the Campbeltown spirit lending an oily, briny weight. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. Everything is done on site, the spirit going from still to cask to bottle in Campbeltown. The maker selects casks for the depth each lends to the whole. A period of marrying brings the parts into balance. The result is a rounded Scotch with a briny, oily lift. Campbeltown has a long blending heritage in what was once the whisky capital of Scotland. The blender marries the whiskies to a house style, the Campbeltown malt lending weight. A coastal, oily thread runs through the blend from its Campbeltown component.
At a natural 53.6% it is full and oily. Dried fruit, oily malt and a coastal salt run through it, with a soft oak spice. Beneath it run oily fruit, salt and a coastal depth. It closes long, oily and salty. A characterful blended malt Scotch with a Campbeltown heart.
