A young Marie-Galante ambre from Bielle, three years in ex-bourbon oak yet drinking older, with woody depth, raisin, vanilla and passion fruit over an intense, peppery palate that finishes dry at 50%.
Description
Bielle works on Marie-Galante, the small Guadeloupe island known for cane-variety experiments and high-proof agricoles, and this ambre is pressed from fresh sugar-cane juice rather than molasses. At three years in oak it would sit in the lightly aged tier, yet it carries a roundness that suggests more time in cask than the label promises.
Column-distilled and rested in ex-bourbon barrels, it leans woody and intense with raisin, vanilla and a passion-fruit lift on the nose, then turns peppery and spicy across a full palate before a dry, gently bitter close. Bottled at 50% with a natural cane sweetness rather than a confected one, it offers genuine character and value for a young rum, an early step into aged agricole that still keeps the estate's signature markers.
