Bacardi Limón

Bacardi Limon is a flavoured spirit from Bacardi in Puerto Rico, a light column still molasses base infused with lime and citrus and bottled at a low 32%. It belongs to the flavoured category, well outside the dry aged rum tradition, and is engineered for cocktails and long drinks.

The profile is dominated entirely by citrus, lime and lime peel running from nose through palate to finish, with a syrupy sweetness and a sharp, spirity edge. With the base spirit kept deliberately neutral and the lime flavouring front and centre, there is little classic rum character to find here, and honesty demands calling it what it is, a citrus flavoured mixing spirit rather than a sipping rum. Its natural home is in a tall glass with soda or lemonade, where the lime hit can do its work and the low strength keeps things easy.
