BrewDog Distilling Co. makes this vodka on a triple-bubble copper pot still, pushing steam through it over a seven-day run for heavy copper contact. Copper matters in distillation because it binds and removes sulphur compounds, cleaning up the spirit as it goes, and BrewDog then filters the vodka only once so it keeps some of its own body rather than being scrubbed fully neutral. Onto that base go the flavours of fresh rhubarb and lemon, the tart fruit and sharp citrus set against each other so neither runs away with it. The single light filtration is deliberate, leaving the spirit enough character to carry the fruit.
The nose is a fresh hit of sweet rhubarb and tangy lemon with a subtle herbal edge. The palate is fruity and refreshing, the rhubarb leading with the lemon cutting through, balanced by a gentle sweetness, and the finish is long and smooth with a lasting rhubarb-and-lemon note. To showcase the fruit, build a Rhubarb Collins: shake the vodka with fresh lemon juice and a little sugar, top with soda over ice and garnish with a thin ribbon of rhubarb, which stretches the flavour into a long, sharp summer drink.
