Description
Madame Vodka takes an uncommon route, built from quinoa rather than the usual grain or potato. The quinoa is grown organically in the Loire Valley in central France and harvested in September, and that base gives the vodka a gentle, slightly herbal cereal note that you do not find in standard wheat or rye spirits. Distillation is done in traditional pot stills, which tend to keep a little more character in the spirit than a tall column would, yielding a clean but textured vodka at 40%. The brand leans hard into its ecological side, with organic farming and a share of profits going to environmental and reforestation causes.
The nose is fresh, with quinoa and cereal, a hint of herbs and a light floral lift. The palate is mild and smooth with a subtle quinoa note and a gentle, slightly sweet freshness, and the finish is long and round with a soft warmth. To let that distinctive base show, mix a clean Vodka Martini: stir it very cold with a small measure of dry vermouth and finish with a lemon twist, where the spare build keeps everything out of the way of the quinoa's faint herbal character.
