Valt is a single malt vodka from Scotland, made from malted barley and Scottish mountain spring water. It is micro-distilled five times, rested in oak for three years and then distilled again, with cold filtration down to around minus twelve degrees. That barley base and oak rest give it a sweet, malty, vanilla character unusual for a vodka.

Description
Valt is a Scottish vodka that borrows whisky's main ingredient, malted barley, and runs it through a vodka process. The barley and Scottish mountain spring water are micro-distilled five times, then, unusually for vodka, the spirit is rested in oak barrels for three years before a final distillation. Careful filtration, partly at around minus twelve degrees Celsius, where cold helps separate out heavier compounds, brings it to a clean state. Barley gives a fuller, sweeter grain note than neutral grains, and the oak rest adds a soft vanilla layer that most vodkas never have.
The nose shows malt sugar and barley over a creamy undertone. The palate carries vanilla, a soft ice-cream sweetness and gentle malt, and the finish is long. This is a sipping vodka, so treat it like one: pour it neat from the freezer into a small chilled glass and drink it slowly, letting the malt-and-vanilla character come forward as it warms a touch in the hand. Chilling tightens the texture without flattening the barley sweetness that makes this bottle worth the attention.
