La Liqueur de Monin Amaretto is an almond liqueur from Monin, the French house at Bourges that makes syrups and liqueurs for the bar trade, made in the Italian amaretto style and bottled at 28%. The recipe is built around the characteristic flavour of sweet almonds, complemented by fine notes of vanilla, marzipan and subtle spice, an interpretation of the Italian liqueur tradition with the house balance behind it.

The nose is sweet almond, vanilla, marzipan and a hint of caramel, the palate full bodied, soft and nutty with almond, vanilla and fine spice, finishing gentle, sweet and long with an elegant nutty close. Behind the bar it works as a nutty almond sweetener with real body, adding marzipan sweetness and stone fruit depth to a glass, which makes it a natural in an Amaretto Sour, a Godfather with Scotch or a French Connection with cognac. A splash also rounds out an Espresso Martini, a coffee or a Manhattan riff. Pour it into a shaken sour, stir it into a coffee drink, or spoon it over ice cream.
