Description
A single maguey joven mezcal from 100% Cuishe, a form of Agave karwinskii valued for its dry, herbal, stony character. It comes from Bozal, a brand whose name means wild or untamed in Spanish and which focuses on wild agave gathered from the steep, difficult hillsides of Oaxaca and Guerrero. Its single agave bottlings always arrive in green glass, and the house pledges to replant two agaves for every one harvested.
The spirit is made in the artesanal style, pit roasted and double distilled in copper, which gives the smoke and savoury depth typical of the category. The nose is dry, with intense citrus, a note of pine nuts and strong minerality. The palate moves through citrus and tropical fruit into cooked sweet potato and green vegetal tones, then closes with a smoky finish, the lean, mineral signature of the karwinskii family.
