Description
Se Busca Mezcal Artesanal Añejo is an Espadín mezcal made in San Juan del Río, Oaxaca, by mezcaleros Rodolfo and Mary López Sosa at their family distillery. Named in tribute to the women who fought in the Mexican Revolution, it is an aged, artesanal expression that keeps the rich agave character in view alongside the wood.
The agave is pit roasted in the artesanal manner, which gives the soft smoke that opens the nose, then joined by salted caramel, roasted pepper, tobacco, cumin and vanilla pod. After distillation the spirit matures at least a year in French oak, drawing out sweet oak, dates and raisins before a clear finish of green vegetables, gentle heat and the cooked agave that underpins it all. At 40% it carries a long, balanced close that holds the barrel and the agave in proportion.
