Description
Codigo 1530 Tequila Blanco is a 100% Blue Weber blanco produced at Varo Destileria, NOM 1616, in Amatitan in the Valles lowlands of Jalisco, the base distillate for the brand's long-aged añejo and extra añejo bottlings. Codigo carries an additive-free verification, and the line is backed by US country singer George Strait. Because it underpins the aged range, the blanco is distilled from more agave than usual, giving a denser agave character.
The house works in the old lowland tradition with no added flavours, sweeteners or colour, using fully mature Blue Weber and Amatitan spring and rainwater filtered through volcanic ground. This is a deliberately traditional blanco with intended bite rather than a soft one, the nose offering cooked agave, pepper, mint, citrus and earthy, grassy, floral notes, the palate mineral and grassy with cooked agave, citrus and pepper. Bottled at 38%.
