Description
Corralejo 99,000 Horas Anejo is a 100% agave tequila from Corralejo, NOM 1368, in Penjamo, Guanajuato, one of the rarer non-Jalisco tequila origins. The Hacienda Corralejo dates to 1775 as one of the first commercial tequila distilleries, and this bottling is a commemorative limited edition named for the roughly 99,000 hours, about 11.5 years, that the full cycle takes from planting through 18 months of cask aging.
Maturation runs 18 months in American oak casks of up to 200 litres. The nose is intensely herbal and minty with agave, joined by citrus, apple and a fine grapefruit note, while the palate is full bodied with a mix of wood and fruit. A large scale Guanajuato producer, Corralejo leans commercial in its methods, but this Anejo carries clear oak influence over a bright, herb led agave base. Bottled at 38%.
