Description
Aha Toro Reposado is a 100% agave tequila from the Hacienda El Olvido at Jesus Maria in Jalisco, the younger sibling of the house Blanco. The agave is sun ripened on highland fields in the Los Altos plateau, and the line has been distilled at El Olvido for nearly a hundred years.
As with the Blanco, the cooked agave is crushed by a stone tahona wheel in the traditional way, which builds a rounder body. The tequila then rests nine months in 200 litre ex-Jack Daniel's casks of American white oak, light enough that the agave still leads. That short oak time brings vanilla, soft apple and honey alongside a clear thread of pepper, with the highland fruit and sweetness rounding the finish. Bottled at 40%.
