Description
Arette Artesanal Suave Blanco is a 100% Blue Weber tequila from El Llano under NOM 1109, the Orendain family distillery near Tequila and Amatitán in the Valles. The Artesanal Suave line is the top tier of the range, and it parts from the regular Arette by cooking the agaves in a traditional stone horno rather than faster autoclaves, one of the few houses still working this way for a slower, steadier bake that draws out the more delicate agave notes.
Fermentation runs an unusually long four days, the spirit is distilled twice in pot stills using spring water from the Tequila volcano, and the blanco rests six months in steel tanks before bottling at 38%. The house works without glycerol, caramel or oak extract. The nose is mineral and fresh with cooked agave, pepper and fruit, the palate soft and lasting with clean agave, herbs, honey and a light peppery edge.
