Martin Miller’s Westbourne Small Batch Strength Gin

    Batch Strength Gin
    700 ml / 45.2%
    Navy Strength Gin

    $63

Juniper and spice come forward boldly here, lifted by citrus and a floral edge and underscored by a touch of liquorice. Distilled separately by botanical type and brought to navy strength with Icelandic spring water, it finishes long and spicy. The classic Martin Miller’s, turned up.

Martin Miller's Westbourne is named for the London address where the recipe was developed, and it is the muscular sibling of the standard bottling. The making is unusual: citrus and earthy botanicals are distilled separately and only then married, and the spirit is brought to its 45.2% strength with notably pure Icelandic spring water, a higher proof that pushes the juniper and spice into sharper relief.

The nose is juniper-led and fresh, with citrus, fine spice and floral nuances. The palate is strong and complex, juniper meeting citrus, earthy botanicals, pepper and a hint of liquorice; the finish is long, spicy and juniper-fresh. The extra strength holds its own in mixed drinks, so build it into a dry Martini or a Negroni where the spice stays clearly legible.
