Edinburgh Gin's Plum & Vanilla Liqueur wears its character openly: plums grown in Scotland and vanilla pods sourced from Madagascar, the two flavours that define every sip. First released in October 2016 as a limited edition of twelve thousand bottles, it sits alongside the distillery's raspberry, elderflower and rhubarb and ginger expressions. At around 20% it is built for gentle, easy drinking rather than strength, the gin softened into something rounder and sweeter.
The nose offers ripe plums and mild vanilla pod. The palate follows sweet and fruity, plum to the fore with that warm vanilla curling underneath, and the finish is long and balanced. Serve it chilled over ice as a dessert pour, top it with soda or prosecco for a lighter spritz, or trickle a little over vanilla ice cream when the evening wants something indulgent.
