Fresh blackberry runs through this one, dark and tart, set against lemon, orange and a peppery snap of spice. The classic Whitley Neill bill of juniper, orris, cassia and liquorice gives it backbone before the fruit takes the lead. A handsome, hedgerow-bright gin made in England.

Description
Whitley Neill is Johnny Neill's project, the latest chapter in a distilling family whose roots reach back to 1762; he launched his first London Dry in 2004 after a detour through finance and a trip to South Africa that gave the original its baobab signature. This Blackberry edition keeps the recognisable Whitley Neill base of juniper, coriander, orris and angelica root, orange, lemon, cassia bark and liquorice, then layers in the flavour of fresh blackberries for a fruit-forward turn.
The nose is classic gin, juniper with citrus and a peppery edge. The palate brings fresh lemon and orange and a lick of spice before the blackberry arrives, tart and ripe, lifting the whole thing into hedgerow territory. The finish runs long. Pour it over ice with a light tonic and a few fresh blackberries, or build it into a fruity cocktail.
