Description
Bayab is built around the baobab and the botanicals of its African home, distilled in small batches at Midlands Distillery in KwaZulu-Natal. This Burnt Orange edition does exactly as it says, charring orange to fold a thread of woodsmoke into the citrus and herbal depth, so the warmth sits against the fruit rather than over it. Each batch leans on African-grown citrus for its bright, sun-fed character.
The nose is fresh citrus shot through with the smoke of burnt orange and a savoury, vegetal note. The palate is full and complex, lively citrus carrying warm smoke and a mild spice, and the finish is long, fruity and gently smoked. Pour it into a G&T with fresh orange peel and a sprig of rosemary, or build it into a gin sour where the char can show.
