Description
Taketsuru 35 Years Old is the most mature regular expression in Nikka's blended malt range, drawing on malt whisky from Yoichi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in Miyagi Prefecture. This 2011 Japanese domestic release in the 750ml format at 43% represents one of the mid-period editions of the age statement.
The long maturation in Ex-Bourbon oak brings the profile to a deeply evolved state: the vanilla and orchard fruit of younger Taketsuru expressions have developed into aged honey, dark dried fruit and a waxy, tobacco-edged malt complexity. The two distilleries, Yoichi with its firmer coastal character and Miyagikyo with its softer fruitiness, are fully integrated after 35 years, producing a unified and settled blend.
