Description
Taketsuru 25 Years Old represents the most extended standard age statement in Nikka's blended malt range, drawing on malt whisky from Yoichi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in Miyagi Prefecture and allowing 25 years in wood to fully integrate the two complementary profiles. This global release at 43% sits above the 21 year expression in depth and complexity.
A quarter century in Ex-Bourbon oak produces a more evolved and settled character: honey and dried fruit develop a leathery, slightly waxy quality over time, while a leafy herbal note gives the palate an almost autumnal tone. Yoichi's firmer, slightly coastal malt provides the structural backbone, and Miyagikyo's softer orchard fruit and floral notes add fragrance, the two now fully married after the long maturation.
