Description
Nikka Session is a no age statement blended whisky from Nikka, launched in 2020 for the global market at 43%. It draws on malt from the Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, the Miyagikyo distillery in Miyagi Prefecture and Ben Nevis in Scotland, a distillery Nikka has owned since 1989, alongside Coffey grain whisky, and is matured in Ex-Bourbon casks.
The blend is deliberately transparent about its multi-origin character, framing the inclusion of Ben Nevis malt as part of Nikka's wider Asahi heritage. Yoichi contributes a coalgas and old-wood depth, while Miyagikyo brings the fresh fruit and honey that dominate the accessible profile. Ben Nevis adds a further malt dimension, and the Coffey grain rounds the blend with vanilla and a smooth, creamy texture. It is designed to sit at the approachable, everyday end of the Nikka range without requiring an age statement.
