Description
Yoichi Single Malt is the no age statement expression from Nikka's Yoichi distillery, Hokkaido, a site chosen by founder Masataka Taketsuru for its resemblance to Scotland's west coast. The distillery's coal-fired pot stills, now a near-extinct technique, define its house identity and set it apart from every other Japanese single malt in current production.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon casks, the NAS release shows fresh fruit, honey and tobacco alongside the signature coal-gas and hay-like notes that only Yoichi's direct-fired method produces. Bottled at 45%, it captures the full range of the house character without the polish of an age statement, offering the distillery's robust, maritime personality in a widely available format.
