Yamazaki Limited Edition 2016 is a no age statement single malt from Suntory's distillery in the valley of Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, where three rivers meet and humid air slows the maturing spirit. It is one of the distillery's annual editions, each a fresh marriage of stock from Japan's first malt distillery that captures the house balance anew.
In the house style this release leans on ex-bourbon oak, with vanilla, ripe orchard fruit and a gentle dried fruit edge typical of the distillery. The American wood keeps the malt bright and clear, the fruit and vanilla rounded rather than weighty.
