Mars Tsunuki Single Malt Japanese Whisky is the core no age statement single malt expression from Tsunuki, Hombo Shuzo's Kagoshima distillery on the southern tip of Kyushu, bottled at 50% cask strength for the global market. Tsunuki opened in 2016 and the core single malt release provides the broadest and most accessible introduction to the distillery's character outside of the more limited single cask and special editions.

Matured in bourbon casks, the spirit sits squarely in Tsunuki's main wood programme, extracting vanilla, tropical fruit and light woodspice from the American oak over the subtropical maturation period. The flavour data notes a medicinal edge alongside the sweetness, a character that appears in some of Tsunuki's distillate and connects loosely to the broader phenolic notes found in southern Japanese production. At 50% cask strength, the whisky is direct and full-flavoured, presenting the house character in an undiluted form without the complexity of specific single cask selection.
