Description
Taketsuru 17 Years Old is Nikka's flagship blended malt, combining malt whisky from Yoichi on the Hokkaido coast and Miyagikyo in Miyagi Prefecture. This expression was bottled for the Spanish market at 43%, one of several market-specific releases within the 17 year range.
Ex-Bourbon oak maturation gives the liquid its backbone of vanilla and soft dried fruit, with Yoichi contributing a firmer, slightly maritime character and Miyagikyo adding the rounder, more fragrant fruit notes that lighten the blend. In the house style, the integration of the two malts is the point: neither site dominates, and the balance across oak and malt profile is characteristic of the Taketsuru approach.
