Description
Taketsuru 17 Years Old is a blended malt from Nikka, the house founded by Masataka Taketsuru, and it brings together malt whisky from Yoichi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in Miyagi Prefecture. The 17 year age statement gives the liquid time to develop depth and harmony across two very different malt characters, one robust and coastal, the other soft and fruity. This expression was bottled at 43% for the Netherlands market.
Maturation in Ex-Bourbon oak builds the vanilla and fruit backbone typical of the Taketsuru range. Yoichi lends its firmer, maltier weight while Miyagikyo contributes orchard fruit and light floral sweetness, the two complementing each other across the oak. In the house style, expect dried fruit, gentle honey and a rounded finish.
