Description
Miyagikyo 15 Years Old 1990 is a single cask single malt from Nikka's Miyagi Prefecture distillery, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2006 at cask strength for the European market. Single cask releases from Miyagikyo offer a more direct view of the distillery's spirit character than the vatted core range, with each barrel telling a slightly different story within the house style.
This example rested 15 years in an Ex-Bourbon oak hogshead, and the combination of cask shape and bourbon-seasoned wood gives a profile typical of Miyagikyo at that age: orchard and fresh fruit, honey, vanilla and a gentle old wood note. At 54%, bottled without reduction, the spirit is full and textured, the long maturation evident in the integration and quiet depth.
