Miyagikyo 12 Years Old

Miyagikyo 12 Years Old Sherry Cask is a single malt from Nikka's Miyagi Prefecture distillery, released as a Japan-market expression in 500ml format at cask strength. Where the standard 12 Years Old draws on Ex-Bourbon wood, this variant takes its maturation from Oloroso sherry casks over the same 12-year span, redirecting the distillery's fruity, floral character toward a richer, more structured register.

The Oloroso influence brings dried fruit, dark berry and baking spice to the fore, sitting above the natural Miyagikyo foundation of orchard fruit and gentle malt. At 55% the spirit is full and concentrated, with the sherry cask's sweetness and grip providing both depth and length. It is a more serious, less immediately approachable side of Miyagikyo than the bourbon-matured releases.
