The Matsui Sakura Cask Cask No. MSS-7 is a single cask, cask strength single malt from Matsui Shuzo's distillery in Tottori prefecture, bottled in 2024 at 48% only for the Dutch market. Part of the most recent generation of single-cask releases in The Matsui range, it continues the house's commitment to sakura, Japanese cherry wood, maturation as a signature offering, and the MSS series cask numbering distinguishes it from the earlier 300-series European casks.

Sakura cask maturation is defined by its delicate, floral and fresh-fruit aromatics: blossom, light cherry and a soft woody sweetness sit at the fore, underpinned by the clean, fruity new make that is typical of Matsui Shuzo's own-distillation spirit. At cask strength 48% the delivery has grip and presence, while the sakura wood keeps the profile fragrant rather than heavy. A distinctive and genuinely Japanese single cask expression from Tottori, suited to the specialist market it was released into.
