Description
The Kurayoshi 12 Years Old is part of Matsui Shuzo's flagship blended malt range from Tottori prefecture. This global release, bottled in 2018 at 43% from Ex-Bourbon casks, has the most detailed flavour profile in the 12 Years Old batch, and the data supports a rounded, multi-layered character. Kurayoshi releases have historically drawn on sourced malt alongside house production, and this bottling reflects that approach.
Flavour data points to honey and vanilla at the front, a rich malt-extract mid-palate and fresh fruit giving way to dried fruit and a hint of new wood spice. The texture is noticeably rounded at 43%, with the 12 years of American oak contact contributing structure without overpowering the underlying cereal and fruit character. The finish carries a gentle sweetness and mild woodspice warmth. A well-rounded, food-friendly blended malt from Tottori.
