The Kyoto Snake Anniversary Edition is a no age statement single malt whisky from Kyoto Miyako, a small craft distillery in Kyoto prefecture, bottled in 2025 to mark the Year of the Snake. Released at 43% abv and selected for the Dutch market as a limited anniversary expression, it is a non-single-cask bottling that highlights the distillery's approach to bespoke, occasion-driven releases.
The liquid matures initially in Ex-Bourbon casks before receiving a finish in Japanese red wine casks, a combination that layers the expected vanilla and soft biscuit of American oak with red berry, dried fruit and a subtle tannic edge from the wine wood. The result is a more complex and fruit-forward profile than the core range expressions, with the Japanese red wine finish giving a distinctly local character to the maturation story.
