Description
Karuizawa Sandai Shogun No Matsu is a single malt from Karuizawa distillery in Nagano Prefecture, drawing on spirit distilled across the 1999 and 2000 vintages, the final years of production before the distillery closed in 2000. Bottled at 55% cask strength for the Dutch market, the name refers to the Three Great Generals, a historical Japanese allusion that situates the release within a lineage of prestige expressions from the closed site.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon casks, the whisky presents the warmer, vanilla-forward side of Karuizawa's character: dried orchard fruit, honey and spiced oak from the American wood, built on the cereal richness that Golden Promise barley and small pot stills consistently delivered. At 55% the spirit retains its full texture and weight. The bottling year in the source data appears corrupted and cannot be confirmed.
