Helios Kura The Whisky

Kura The Whisky is the internationally distributed blend from Helios, an awamori and rum distillery in Nago, Okinawa. This expression is a blended whisky matured in Ex-Bourbon white oak casks and presented at 40% for the European market, carrying no age statement in the Kura range's typical fashion.

Okinawa's subtropical conditions mean the spirit interacts with white oak at an accelerated pace, pulling vanilla and light woody spice from the Ex-Bourbon wood more readily than in cooler Japanese climates. The result shows a smooth vanilla sweetness alongside a faint smokiness and a gentle warmth that reflect the island's character. White oak maturation keeps the palate clean and the finish relatively dry, giving a straightforward, easy-going dram with a distinctly southern Japanese identity.
