Kura The Whisky is the flagship export-facing range from Helios Distillery, an awamori and rum producer based in Nago, Okinawa. This blended malt expression was released for the European market and carries no age statement, reflecting the distillery's approach to blending for consistency across young, fast-matured spirit.

The whisky begins its life in Ex-Bourbon casks before receiving a finish in Japanese rum casks, a nod to Helios's long-running rum production on the island. Okinawa's warm, humid conditions speed the interaction between spirit and wood, lending a soft tropical-fruit and coconut character alongside bourbon-derived vanilla. The rum cask finish adds a light molasses sweetness and a rounded warmth, producing a gentle and accessible dram at 40%.
